Care
The nature of silver
Silver is meant to be lived in.
Sterling silver breathes. Worn often, it stays bright against your skin; left alone, it may soften to a warmer tone over time. That isn't damage — it's the metal keeping a quiet record of being yours. A little care keeps it the way you like it, for as long as you like.
Keeping it close.
Everyday wear
Put your jewellery on last — after fragrance, lotion, and hair. Take it off first, before you wash, swim, sleep, or exercise. The pieces you reach for most often need the least fuss: regular wear and the natural oils of your skin help keep silver bright.
Cleaning at home
Wipe each piece with a soft, lint-free or silver-polishing cloth after wear. For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, work gently with your fingers or a soft brush, then rinse and pat completely dry. Avoid tissue and paper towel — they can leave fine scratches on the surface.
Storing your silver
Keep pieces dry and apart, in a closed box or a soft pouch, away from heat and direct sun. Storing each piece separately prevents scratches and tangling. If you wear something only now and then, an anti-tarnish strip in the box slows oxidation while it rests.
What to avoid
Keep silver away from perfume, hairspray, lotion, chlorine, saltwater, and household cleaners. Remove it before swimming, bathing, or sleeping. Take off oxidised or stone-set pieces before anything strenuous — chemicals and knocks dull both the metal and the colour.
Restoring the shine
Light tarnish lifts with a silver-polishing cloth. On oxidised pieces — where the darkened detail is part of the design — polish only the raised areas and leave the recesses as they are. For gemstones or intricate work, let us help rather than risk the setting.
When to bring it to us
A loose stone, a clasp that no longer holds, or tarnish that won't lift at home — bring the piece to us. We would rather restore it properly than have you risk it. Reach out any time and we'll take care of the rest.
